Emeleen
After 3 years in official trials this massive high yielding variety is a great addition to our portfolio, giving 106% of yield over controls. It exhibits decent drought tolerance, has excellent early vigour with an impressive cob set. To optimise yield drill early on best growing sites. Expect high demand for this variety in 2024. As with all new varieties, seed may be limited.
Cob Ripeness
Long erect cylinder cob with early grain maturity that allows early harvesting to occur. Typically has 16 grains per ring. Smokey grains at harvest. Cob ripening days after Picker + 12.
Maturity Group
FAO 200. In the main maturity group for growers on mainstream sites. Good grain maturity on bulky plant with stay green characteristics.
Quality & Digestibility
High yields ensure full clamps of quality forage for winter feeding. Very high yields of energy per hectare ideal where a high proportion of maize silage is fed in the diet.
Yield
Sow at 38,000 to 42,500 seeds per acre (105,000 to 110,000 seeds/ha) to maximise output. The highest yields in National List trials 2020 and 2021 and 2nd highest yield in NIAB descriptive list trials 2022.
When to sow
Sow April to May
