ES Myrdal
A very large, robust plant which produces large cobs. Exceptional yields on favourable sites, and suitable for medium/bodied soils. Performed very well in 2024 with many fields recording fresh yields in excess of 50 tonnes per hectare.
Cob Ripeness
Large well filled determinate cobs with early dent grain and good maturity, similar to Ambition. Cob ripening days after Lovely + 9
Maturity Group
FAO 185. Bonnie is a maturity class 8 variety for the main bulk of maize growers. Its early cob ripeness allows high yields of forage to be achieved even in areas with less heat units.
Quality & Digestibility
Very high digestibility and cell wall digestibility 58.7% combine with good starch to produce superb silage. A quality variety producing quality silage.
Yield
Sow at 40,000 to 45,000 seeds per acre (105,000 - 111,000 per ha.) to maximise output. Very high yields of forage in NIAB trials. excellent combination of cob and plant yield to form quality forage in the clamp.
When to sow
Sow April to May
