Crosbey
This exciting very high yielding forage & grain variety has really proved itself in the last 3 years, producing some of the best yield results on lighter soils. Produces robust plants exhibiting sturdy stems and superb cob set. European data & our own UK experience suggests excellent tolerance of heat & drought, which we have seen over the last 3 years in the UK.
Cob Ripeness
Superb even well filled cobs. Early starch lay down in the grains results in good cob ripeness and high starch content for maturity class 7 variety. Cob ripening days after Picker + 15
Maturity Group
FAO 215. Early maturity on favourable maize sites. Early starch lay down enables crops to be harvested in good conditions. Long harvest window.
Quality & Digestibility
Large well filled determinate cobs with early starch lay down in the grains. The good cob ripeness drives starch production and allows quality silage to be fed.
Yield
Sow at 38,000 to 42,500 seeds per acre (99,000 to 110,000 seeds/ha) to maximise forage output. Reduce plant populations to 36,000 to 38,000 (90,000 to 94,000/ha) for grain.
When to sow
Sow April to May
